Coincidentally whilst visiting Riga and watching my favourite comedy, Brooklyn 99, an episode involving Captain Latvia aired – his signature move, The Riga Hammer.
The coordinator of my pharmacy degree was from Latvia, she seemed pretty angry (maybe only towards me) so I didn’t hold much hope for encountering anyone pleasant in Riga. Fortunately I was wrong. Riga was founded in 1201 and has a very nice, historic old town. A small Christmas market was in action during our visit. We went on a free walking tour with a very friendly guide. They start from the front of the church at 11:00am everyday. You can find more information here. We found the food and atmosphere at Ala Fokklub to be fantastic. You can find details here.
