Vilnius

Vilnius

Vilnius is the capital of Lithuania – a 4 hour bus ride from Minsk (Belarus) – We used Lux Express – you can book here. You do need to travel across the border between Belarus and Lithuania and you will need to have your visas in order and your bags will be inspected twice, on the way out of Belarus and on the way into Lithuania (The European Union)

We stayed near the bus station in an excellent Airbnb which was a short walk to the old town. A free walking tour departs daily covering the old town, you can find more information here.

Vilnius has a number of excellent cafes and eateries. At Coffee1 you will find avocado on toast for €2.2, which as most Australians will know, is a bargain. Kitchen has an excellent set lunch menu, local craft beers and large portions, it was our go-to dining venue. Le Butcher specialised in burgers and had a very reasonably priced lunch menu – around 6€ for a burger, wedges/salad and drink – Here is the menu
