Putin, The KGB, The Kremlin and more, that is what is on offer in Moscow. We arrived late at night to our hotel, Hotel National. We had a room at the hotel for 6 nights, which is conveniently located a few hundred metres from the Red Square and associated sights. We booked a three-day walking tour with a local at the following site, Tours with locals, with our guide Alina. We met Alina each day at 10am and she took us for a walk around half a dozen sites each day. We also used the metro, which is a sight in itself. We visited the space museum which was fantastic, went into the Kremlin, wandered around the Red square and saw St. Basils and various other sites. To be honest we could have done everything we needed to do in one long day or two half days.
Here is a small walking tour that we put together, visiting 8 key sites in Moscow.
Here is a photo Gallery of some of the main sights around Moscow. You must visit Kafe Pushkin for lunch one day. The shopping centre GUM has a fantastic food hall running along one side. There is also a cafe located near GUM that serves a traditional menu.
